graphic projects

I’ve always got a few projects under way - here’s a few of them.

  • Watercolour patterns in nature

Representing the watercolour patterns of nature in art.

  • Maps and journeys

I got hold of a box of old maps from the 1800s that a library was throwing out. They led to a project about journeys and orientation.

  • Geological strata

Rangipo Desert (The Desert Road) has always fascinated me. I wanted to use monoprint techniques to represent the layers of rich volcanic rock that are exposed in the cuttings.

  • Texture and atmosphere

Using ink to evoke an emotion or an atmosphere.

  • Order and chaos

Printmaking is half about control, half about relinquishing control. I wanted to use the medium to explore the tension between control and openness-to-the-moment.
